About hunting in Botswana
For many years, Botswana was known as one of the top dangerous-game hunting countries in southern Africa, with a plethora of elephants, lions, and leopards, as well as a wide variety of plains game.
Botswana on map
Botswana is located in Southern Africa, bordered by South Africa to the south, Namibia to the west, Zimbabwe to the northeast, and Zambia at a single short crossing of the Zambezi River. Much of the country lies on the Kalahari Plateau, a semi-arid expanse of savanna and desert. The north of the country is dominated by the Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park, which are among the richest wildlife areas in Africa.
Price distribution
Hunting in Botswana is reasonably priced. As far as plains game is concerned, you might find a package with identical number of days and trophies a little cheaper in South Africa or Namibia, but these affordable deals would usually imply hunting in high-fence areas, whereas Botswana offers genuine, pure, free-range experience. Elephant hunts, however, due to the rarity of available permits and the prestige of the trophies, may be pricey. Most hunts are sold as complete safari packages, which include guiding, tracking, camp accommodation, and licenses, with trophy fees depending on species.

Hunting methods
Hunting in Botswana is conducted in traditional safari style, with professional hunters guiding their guests through wild concessions, often using vehicles to cover more distance. In some areas, you may also be poled around in a mokoro, the traditional dugout canoe. The highlight of Botswana hunting experience is without a doubt tracking, with trackers recruited from the San people (formerly referred to as Bushmen). The San are the original hunter-gatherers, who have been roaming the Kalahari for the last 20 to 50 thousand years; their skill of finding spoor is unparalleled, and so is the speed with which they can follow the scantest tracks in the scorching heat. The hunter should be prepared for long hours following tracks until a suitable animal is found, especially for elephants and buffalo. Plains game is also hunted on foot, with stalks beginning from a vehicle and continuing across the open savanna or bushveld. The emphasis is on fair chase, and hunts are often physically demanding, taking place in hot, dry conditions that require stamina and patience.

80 Due North
Outfitter
The couple, Daniel and Oanita, who hosted me are very nice people and all the employees do everything for the client's satisfaction. Especially the tracker does good job. Many nice trophy animals . We spotted and stalked the animals, sometimes for hours, but the tracker had never lost the track. We found a wounded zebra after tracking 6 hours. I hope I can come back again, just do not hesitate to book with them, I recommend you all. However I am an old Africa hunter, started in 1998 and hunted at least 15 times in Namibia and RSA.
Everything was ok.

80 Due North
Outfitter
I really had a fantastic time with Daniel, Oanita and their team.
Everything was excellent from the moment I was collected by Daniel at the airport to when I sadly had to depart Botswana.
I honestly cannot wait to return to 80 Due North and hunt there again - hopefully next time with some friends.
Highly recommended!
Genuinely fabulous people - thank you!!!
