About hunting in Alberta
The province of Alberta, in western Canada, is one of North America’s premier hunting regions. Covering 250,000 square miles, its geography is diverse, with open prairies in the south, aspen parklands in the central regions, boreal forestland in the far north, and the magnificent peaks of the Canadian Rockies along its western border. Alberta has at least ten huntable big-game species: pronghorn antelope, bighorn sheep, black bears, cougars, Rocky Mountain elk, Canada moose, mule deer, white-tailed deer, bison, and wolves. Alberta’s prairie regions also boast outstanding waterfowl and upland bird hunting. Alberta’s outfitters are issued big-game allocations on an annual basis, so there is no need for hunters to apply for or draw tags, and this makes it easy to book a hunt in the province.
Alberta’s hunting industry traces its roots to 1881, when Tom Wilson joined a survey of what is now the Stoney Indian Reserve near Banff. After learning the lay of the land and how to pack a horse, he became the first known hunting outfitter in Alberta. During the 1920s and 1930s, outfitted hunting evolved into big business, and famous names, including American outdoor writer Jack O’Connor, hunted in both Alberta and British Columbia.
Alberta is known for outstanding record-book trophies, especially when it comes to bighorn sheep. The world-record bighorn was taken by Guinn Crousen in 2000, and the ram it eclipsed, now number two, was also from Alberta. In fact, five of the top ten rams listed in the Boone and Crockett records came from Alberta. So did the number-one non-typical mule deer, the Broder Buck.
Hunters can bring their own rifles and shotguns for a hunt in Alberta; a simple one-page form must be filled out to obtain a temporary Canadian Firearms permit. This form (CAFC 909) can be downloaded from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Canadian Firearms Program, www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf. Follow the links for visitors/non-residents and then download the “Non-Resident Firearms Declaration” (CAFC 909). Hunters may bring up to 200 rounds of ammunition into Alberta, and it’s easy to purchase ammo for most common calibers and gauges at sporting-goods stores in most areas.
The Alberta Professional Outfitter’s Society (APOS) is a good source of information about hunting in Alberta. See apos.ab.ca.
I have nothing but positive things to say about my hunt and the whole experience with Northern Element Outfitters. Kody was easy to communicate with, his description of the hunt, game, and all aspects was accurate and professional. Kody has a tremendous amount of hunting and guiding knowledge and is quick to share it with his clients and ensure they are successful. Kody knows bears and their behavior if you want a chance at a true giant of the North give Kody a call and he will make sure you have an exceptional hunt. I was fortunate to not only harvest one bear of a lifetime but two. The largest squared in at 7’3” with a 20 1/8” skull, and the second squared 7’ with a 18 5/8” skull. Three hunters in camp and we all had success on bears squaring 7’ or greater. Both bears I harvested had exceptional quality hides, and Kody did a fantastic job skinning, caping, and preparing the hides.
You may come to Northern Elements Outfitters as a client, but you will leave feeling like family with good friends and tales to last a lifetime.
I have traveled all over the world and I can not recommend Kody and Northern Elements Outfitting enough. If you want to hunt black bears look no further!!!

It was Corbett Creeks 1st year doing wolf hunts. Richard listened to ways making the hunts better going forward. Example were the heaters for blinds. The time I spent in Alberta it was sometimes -25 F. Never got above zero. The bigger buddy heaters Richard got the second day kept the insulated blind comfortably warm for 12 hour sits in -20 F weather. R
Corbett creek in my opinion will only get better. Wolf hunting is one of the most elusive of all game animals to harvest. I was successful on a very large Canadian Wolf. Richards family are wonderful people and treated their hunters like family.

Everything was great from beginning to end. Lowell is a great guy and a great host and a super hunter/guide. He has all the facilities that you need for a comfortable stay and for taking care of your game when you are successful. He has thousands of acres and knows the property like the back of his hand. Game cameras everywhere ensure that you will be hunting in the best spots. Calling in a bull elk and being face to face at 50 yards was truly an experience of a lifetime. Lowell takes pride in what he does and works very hard to ensure that you have a great experience from beginning to end. His chef made some incredible meals and deserts. His family was warm and fun to hang with. I came as a client and left as a friend
Absolutely nothing.
I would go again tomorrow!

100% my favorite hunting trips I've ever gone on and I have over 200 animals with my bow. I've never experienced anything like it. With most new hunting trips and outfitters, you're slightly hesitant about what you're getting into but with Embarrass River outfitters it was truly "come as a client, leave as a friend." The bears were plentiful. On a 7 day trip I sat only 3 times, saw about 50 bears and bowed a huge brown phase color bear with my compound and then a juicy black one with my recurve. The food was amazing and the starlink/campfire set up with a TV mounted on a tree is unlike anything I've ever done. You fly into a runway in the middle of nowhere made during WWII and are just constantly having a good time. The guides were out of their way amazing as well. They brought golf clubs which you can smack golf balls down the runway and throwing axes. It was the best 7 1/2 days I could have asked for

Pretty much everything
Mosquitos and the dust on the trails is quite literally the only issue but that's just northern Canada. Can't fix it

I just completed my hunt with the owner of Mossy Ridge Outfitters, Travis Vreeling, and I’m 100% satisfied. Throughout the hunt Travis demonstrated exceptional hunting tactics and his knowledge of the terrain. It was quite obvious that he spent many hours scouting the areas that we were hunting. During our 6 day hunt, my brother and I saw approximately 25-30 bears of all sizes and harvested 2 very nice bears each. The accommodations were very comfortable and the food was delicious. I felt good spending my hard earned money with Travis as he is a genuine salt of the earth kind of guy.
Nothing comes to mind.

Excellent German Hunting without the headache

Thomas is an excellent host, kind and accommodating. The lodge is very nice with a traditional looking exterior and main floor with modern rooms. the quality and choice of the game was great. Unlike other options in Germany, you do not need the German hunting licensee. A passport, background check and hunter safety card will get you a hunt! plus you can rent a rifle free of charge which helps eliminate the extra hassle of bring your own gun.
the pricing might be a bit confusing at first, especially if you have not hunted in Europe before. The trophy is charged by the weight of the head i.e. head, antlers , horns...
