Cape eland hunting in South Africa

Cape eland hunting in South Africa ({{totalToursString}})

Eland is the “Incredible Hulk” of the African antelope species. This fawn-coloured antelope with a prominent dewlap is remarkably agile for its size and known to jump incredible heights, easily clearing a regular stock fence. Old mature grey coloured bulls are locally referred to as a “Blue Bulls” and the majority of these bulls have worn down horns with tufts of hair covering their foreheads giving each bull their distinctive characteristic look. This is a popular trophy hunted in a variety of habitats, from the red Kalahari Desert sand dunes of the Northern Cape to the spectacular mountains of the Eastern Cape, and can be found on numerous South African game ranches. Cape Eland is endemic to South Africa, and was known to migrate between the foothills of Drakensberg Mountain range to the Bushveld depending on the season and quality of food available. A few of these free range animals are still found in the province of KwaZulu-Natal that move out of the mountainous National Parks to feed on the farmers green pastures during the winter months.

Looking for best hunting trips for You...

Why do I see different types of prices?
There are two types of hunts on our platform: Package Hunts and Customizable Hunts. Package Hunts are fixed offers. Customizable Hunts usually allow you to select species and other parameters (number of hunters and guests, etc.) and then you can see the final price of your hunt.

"Package price" tag - this price tag is shown for package hunts, and it's a final price for an offer.

"Price from" tag - we show this tag for customizable hunts either when you search for particular species or when there is only one type of species in an offer. In both cases we include the minimum trophy fee available for this type of animal. It means that you see the final price of the offer, but you can also customize it (e.g. you can include a bigger trophy into your hunt).

"Daily rate fee" tag - this price does NOT include trophy fee. For example, if you are searching for a destination and we can't figure out the species you want, then we show this tag. You will need to include trophies from a hunt page.

1x1: Eastern Cape Free-range Hunt Eastern Cape, South Africa

ACCOMMODATION: FARM GUESTHOUSE as listed 4 STAR THATCH LODGE upgrades available at an additional fee of $150 per hunter The Ranch sits on an escarpment (2200 feet above sea level) and has four unique biospheres within half an hour’s drive. This unique change in biospheres results in huge animal diversity. the landscape and habitats vary from deep wide valley bushveld with thick riverine bush, home of the Eastern Cape Kudu as well as Cape Bushbuck, Nyala, Warthog, and Bush pig. The sides of the valleys/canyons make for great vantage points. A lot of time is spent at theses elevated points glassing for trophies. On the plateau above the valley lies the savanna and scattered woodlands. This is home to species such as Impala, Sable, Zebra, Waterbuck and Mountain Reedbuck. These plateaus also make great vantage points for glassing and the start of many long stalks. The savanna gradually gives way to the long rolling Bedford plains which were once the place of vast animal migrations across the Eastern Cape. These plains are where Springbuck, Blesbok and Black Wildebeest are found and often ambushed from behind the endless anthills which make for good hiding places. These plains give way to the Kaggaberg Mountain range with valleys and box canyons, home to the Eland, Cape Bushbuck and Kudu.
