Zebra hunting in Mozambique {{ totalToursString }}
Four subspecies of Plains Zebra originally occurred in Mozambique.
Today, if you hunted Zebra in Mozambique you would probably be shooting the following subspecies: Damara (very similar to Burchell’s) Zebra in the south, Selous Zebra in the central regions, Chapman’ Zebra in the Zambia/Zimbabwe border regions, Crawshay’s Zebra in the north-western regions and Boehm’s (Grant’s) Zebra in the Tanzanian border region.
Selecting a Zebra to shoot is often in the eye of the beholder. Zebra patterns and colour variations even vary within a particular subspecies. All have black and white stripes and only the Damara Zebra has a shadow stripe and white legs. The rest of the Mozambique subspecies have no shadow stripes and marking all the way down their legs.
Zebra is listed as a near-threatened declining species by the IUCN but no special permits are required to export these animals.
