6 Day Big Boar Black Bear Hunt-

Ben & Rosi Stourac
Canada
Our company was established in 2017 and operates in 1 territory.
Family owned and operated, we specialize in mountain hunting for high quality big game in a beautiful wilderness setting. Home to North America’s largest and healthiest herd of California Bighorn Sheep, we have run 100% success on our bighorn hunts since 2017. Harvesting conservatively and taking only minimal hunters each season, we aim to target only mature animals of each species, ensuring a sustainable harvest for years to come and the highest quality trophy class game for every hunter who comes with us. This area has excellent populations of Mountain Mule Deer, Canadian Moose, Black Bear, and all three cat species including Cougar, Lynx, and Bobcat. High trophy potential exists on all species in the area.About this hunt
The average Black Bear in our area are between 6'5" and 7'2" squared, although bears up to 7.5ft are taken each year. Typical skull size is between 18-21 inches. Hide quality of both spring and fall bears is exceptional, with little to no rubbing most years. Black bear numbers are the highest recorded to date in British Columbia, and the population densities in Arcadia are no exception, allowing for excellent hunter success rates. We have a healthy number of black bear in the area, and color phase variations are quite common. A hunter can expect to see both the regular black color, as well as color phase bear (brown or blonde) while on their hunt with us. A hunter will have 100% opportunity on bears, and can realistically expect to harvest a bear in the 6' to 7.5' range.

Success rate
100% opportunity on bears, although it depends how picky we get aiming to target only the largest boars we can find. Earlier season hunters will see fewer bears in general, but most all bears spotted will be mature boars out of their dens early. Later in the season bear numbers seen will be higher, but we will need to weed through more sows and cubs to find our target animal.

Territory
Our area is in the Rain Shadow of the Coast Mountains. From sage brush flats, to thick conifer forest, to towering glacial peaks, our area has it all. The mighty Fraser River runs on our Western boundary, and is a sight to behold in itself. Game densities are concentrated along the lower flats making accessibility quite good in general.

Camp
In 2021 we suffered a setback and had our old camp burn down in a wildfire. Since then, we have been working diligently every chance we get at building up a new basecamp in a beautiful new location. Our basecamp is comfortably able to accommodate up to 6 hunters at a time. Floors and half walls are insulated, all tents have lighting and power to charge phones, and the main cook tent has a comfortable dining and sitting area, complete with kitchen and attached shower room. Wifi is readily available as long as our generator is running. All tents have wood stoves as well as propane heaters as backup, and real memory foam mattresses. None of those cheap foamies typical in hunting camps. We have an additional insulated cabin that sleeps 2 with its own shower and heat source, and a separate trapping cabin situated 100kms to the north as well.

Cancellation
If a hunter must cancel their hunt, if given reasonable time beforehand, the outfitter will work with the client to reschedule their hunt dates. If it is within 3 months of the scheduled hunt, a suitable replacement may be found to take their place and pay the final deposit owing, otherwise, if no one can be found, the deposit may be forfeit.Wounding
Our guides will work diligently to ensure we do not wound any game. In the event it happens, we will do our best to search for the given animal for up to 2 full days, if we deem the shot to be fatal. If the animal is not found and we believe it to be a fatal shot, the tag must be cut. The hunter may continue to hunt a second bear if they have a second tag to do so. Otherwise, we may consider the hunt done. If a shot is believed not to be fatal and simply grazed the animal or other, we will still search for a given amount of time, and thereafter will speak to the outfitter to decide the best course of action. In most cases if not fatal, we will resume hunting as per normal and do our best to find that same bear once again.Payment
