About this hunt
Our rifle hunts, run Wednesday to Saturday, creating a 4-day season (Government implemented for resident and none resident hunters . Our guides scout from Sunday to Tuesday evening to locate deer, ensuring a productive start on Wednesday morning. We focus on finding specific deer that we have already located. If a guide tags out early, they assist the other guide, quickly turning a rifle hunt into a two-guides-one-hunter experience. We offer spot and stalk hunts, where hunters may hike 10-12 miles a day in mild terrain, and river boat hunts along the South Saskatchewan River, where the terrain varies from rugged to mild, these hunts take place in November where the weather can range from 0 C to -25 C.
The hunt will consist of traditional spot and stalk methods, including walking, kneeling, and belly crawling,
through a combination of rugged coulee systems and rolling native pasture/grasslands. The client can
anticipate spending several hours per day glassing terrain both on foot and from a pickup truck.
During the archery season, the client may be crawling and kneeling in areas with cactus. Suitable gloves,
pants with kneepads, and a backpack (or another device that allows the client to attach their bow to their
back) isa recommended.
The client should also be aware that much of the area is inhabited by mildly venomous and fairly docile
rattlesnakes. Encounters during the archery season are occasional, but the client should bring and wear
gaiters if there is a concern about being bitten.
During the rifle season, the client can expect the potential to hike in up to 12 inches of snow. Gaiters are
helpful to keep pants and boots dry.
For rifle hunts, the client will need to be in good physical and cardiovascular shape and
be prepared for long hikes involving steep terrain, rough coulees, and rugged grasslands while carrying
gear and game. Cardiovascular, strength, mobility, and flexibility training are highly recommended in
preparation for the hunt.
