Red hartebeest hunting in South Africa ({{totalToursString}})

A strikingly reddish-fawn colour, this medium to large size antelope is also known as the Cape Hartebeest. Both sexes have heavily ringed heart-shaped horns that curl backwards earning it the nickname of “the Harley Davidson of the antelope world”. The Red Hartebeest prefers open grasslands and is well adapted to the arid savannah regions of South Africa. Through reintroduction programs, they are now widely distributed throughout South Africa on both high fenced and low stock fenced properties. Trophy wise, good quality animals are available throughout the country but look most at home in the drier western regions of the Northern Cape, Free State and Karoo. Equally at home on the steep mountain slopes, these agile animals are one of Africa’s fastest antelopes. They are water independent and will drink when available but are drawn to salt and mineral licks. Being an inquisitive animal they often make the fatal mistake of stopping to look back once disturbed, allowing for a long shot. Classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN, no special hunting permits are required. Their meat is highly underrated and makes for some of the best tasting venison available.

Looking for best hunting trips for You...

Why do I see different types of prices?
There are two types of hunts on our platform: Package Hunts and Customizable Hunts. Package Hunts are fixed offers. Customizable Hunts usually allow you to select species and other parameters (number of hunters and guests, etc.) and then you can see the final price of your hunt.

"Package price" tag - this price tag is shown for package hunts, and it's a final price for an offer.

"Price from" tag - we show this tag for customizable hunts either when you search for particular species or when there is only one type of species in an offer. In both cases we include the minimum trophy fee available for this type of animal. It means that you see the final price of the offer, but you can also customize it (e.g. you can include a bigger trophy into your hunt).

"Daily rate fee" tag - this price does NOT include trophy fee. For example, if you are searching for a destination and we can't figure out the species you want, then we show this tag. You will need to include trophies from a hunt page.

1 x 1 Bushveld Hunt Limpopo, South Africa

To maximize your hunt of a lifetime in Africa, our rifle hunting is mostly done on foot or by means of spot and stalk, depending on the client’s ability and the animal being hunted. The most popular calibers brought along on a South African hunting safari trip range from a 270, 7mm-08, 7 mm Rem Mag, 308 Winchester, 30-06, 300 Win Mag and .338 Win Mag. If we were to recommend one or two calibers, it must only be a recommendation, and not as a rule. With a 308 and a 375 H/H, you will be able to hunt ANYTHING that walks in the African bush, and so it would be a good choice. It all depends on which animals you want to hunt. Recommended caliber for hunting Plains Game We consider the 308 as the best all-round caliber for hunting plains game in Africa. The 308 has a proven track record, ammunition is readily available in South Africa, and recoil is at a minimum. This does not mean we only believe in the 308 – Other calibers like the 270, 308, 7 mm Rem Mag, 7 mm-08, 300 Win Mag is also excellent calibers, which fulfill the legal requirements for most game. We also offer wingshooting @ $350 per session

RIFLE HUNTING We will adapt to your ability and make sure that you get the best trophies. As qualified firearm handlers, we have taken several youth hunters and taught them the basics about hunting, firearm handling and safety. After this, we took them on their first real hunt. Be it your first time or your son’s first time, we enjoy introducing hunting to you. Hunting with us will be a life-changing experience and would make you return year after year to enjoy our great country and friendly people. BOWHUNTING Bowhunting in South Africa will be one of your best hunts ever. Be surrounded by game every day and await your perfect shot. Whatever is needed to put you on the big one, we make it happen. Rifle hunting is not allowed on any of our bowhunting ranches.
