Oribi hunting in Zambia
We found 1 hunt
Oribi is found in the south and wetter western and far northern regions of Zambia. The Oribi (Subspecies - Cotton's Oribi) is a small-sized antelope with light rusty brown colouring and white underparts. In many respects, they may be mistaken for a Steenbuck but are larger in size and have a distinguishing black tail. Only the males have slightly forward-curving horns.
This grassland species prefers to feed on green grass and favours the less waterlogged areas with short grass maintained by fire or heavy grazing. During the heat of the day, they rest in long grass and can be found feeding in the more open short grass areas during the cooler part of the day. Unfortunately, their habit of jumping up at the last moment makes them very susceptible to predation and poachers hunting with dogs.
Oribi is classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN. A Zambian hunting license must be purchased before the commencement of your hunt.
