Oribi is a bit bigger than a Steenbuck in size. They are sandy-brown medium-small size antelope with white underparts. Besides their size, they can be distinguished from Steenbuck by their black tail. Only the males have slightly forward curving horns.
Oribi is found throughout the savannah regions of Cameroon.
Oribi prefers less waterlogged areas with short green grass maintained by fire or heavy grazing. They are mostly active in the cooler morning and afternoon hours. During the day they ly up in long grass and will only leap up at the last minute to avoid predators and hunters. This behaviour unfortunately makes them very vulnerable to villagers hunting them with dogs.
Oribi is classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN. A Cameroon hunting license must be purchased before the commencement of your hunt.
