Lichtenstein Hartebeest hunting in Mozambique

Lichtenstein’s Hartebeest is a medium to large size antelope with humped shoulders and sloping back. These predominantly light tawny brown animals with a rufous saddle and white underparts have an elongated head. Both males and females have backward curving S-shaped horns. The Liechtenstein's Hartebeests of Mozambique are mostly found from the western regions north of the Limpopo River to the extreme eastern floodplains of the Zambezi Delta up to Niassa hunting blocks. This highly inquisitive animal forms gregarious breeding herds. Each herd has a dominant bull that will expel younger bulls from the herd and fight others for the dominance of the herd. Bulls will defend their territory and harem during the rut. They are also one of the fastest antelope in Africa. They are classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN, no special export and import permits are required but a prearranged hunting license must be purchased by your outfitter.
