Kudu hunting in Ethiopia

Ethiopia is home to two species of Kudu: the Greater Kudu and the Lesser Kudu. Among the five subspecies of the Greater Kudu, Ethiopia hosts the Abyssinian African Greater Kudu and the Northern Lesser Kudu The Abyssinian Greater Kudu, renowned for its impressive spiral horns, is a top target for many hunters visiting Africa. The name "Kudu" is derived from the Khoikhoi people, indigenous hunter-gatherers, and this term has endured through the ages. In contrast, the Northern Lesser Kudu, though related to the Greater Kudu, is significantly smaller. This species is less than half the size of a typical Kudu, distinguished by a prominent white throat, striking white stripes, and smaller spiral horns. The Lesser Kudu is a prized game, often sought after as a special by experienced hunters. While the Greater Kudu is classified by the IUCN as a species of least concern, the Lesser Kudu is listed as Near Threatened. Both species can be hunted with an Ethiopian license, allowing enthusiasts to pursue these remarkable animals in their natural habitat.
