About hunting in Spain
Spain is blessed with a mild Mediterranean climate and a variety of terrain. With mountains in the north, southcentral, and west of the country, as well as rolling hills, forests, and farmland, Spain offers a long list of game animals, many of which are unique to the Iberian Peninsula. The quality of guiding, lodging, food, and other amenities is outstanding in Spain. Spain is also a leader in progressive wildlife management, and its wildlife populations are stable and produce excellent trophy quality.
Spain is famous for its four varieties of ibex, each of which occupies four disparate geographical regions. The Spanish ibex (Capra pyrenaica) has four subspecies: Gredos, found in the Gredos Mountains near Madrid; Beceite, in the mountains of Valencia; and the Southeastern and Ronda ibex, both of which are found in the coastal mountains of Andalusia. Spain is also home to two subspecies of chamois: the Pyrenean chamois of the Pyrenean mountains, which separate Spain from France, and the Cantabrian chamois from the Cantabrian mountains of the north coast. Both chamois hunts and ibex hunts take place in scenic mountain country. Other game includes red stag, Iberian wolf, Barbary sheep, Iberian mouflon, Balearian boc, roebuck, fallow deer, and wild boar.
In medieval times, a royal driven hunt in the Montero Hills gave rise to the famous driven hunt called the Monteria. This traditional way of hunting big game entails hunters at stands approximately 300 yards apart. The hunting area is normally very thick and brush-covered, so hounds are used to drive game to where the hunters are located. Species hunted in a Monteria typically include red deer, roe deer, and wild boar.
If bird shooting is your game, Spain is also famous for its red-legged partridge. The red-legged partridge is indigenous to Spain and considered one of the world's fastest and most challenging game birds, with a rapid and irregular flight pattern. Driven partridge shooting, known as Ojeo, is a style of hunting typical in Spain, where the hunter waits at his station for the partridge to fly over. During a day´s shooting a line of six or eight shooters may bag as many as 1,000 partridge.

Visas
Holders of passports from the USA, EU countries, and many other countries do not require a visa for a tourist visit to Spain.
Importing Firearms
Bringing your hunting rifle to Spain requires filling out a form available from the Spanish Consulate. Information required includes your personal data, the firearm information, dates of your hunt, as well as locations (the outfitter should help you with this). You will have to provide a notarized copy of your passport, as well as a notarized copy of an American hunting license. Provide this form to the Spanish Consulate no earlier than two months prior the hunt, and you will be provided with a certificate allowing you to bring your firearm to Spain. Send a copy of the certificate to your outfitter and bring the original with you.

Beautiful area. Plenty of animals. They had a shooting block for me to check my sight (archery hunt).
They picked me up at my hotel at the start of the hunt, but I had to make arrangements back to Palma after the hunt.

Traditional Hunt In Spain

Victor is a great guide. He worked very hard for me, despite a surprising physical disability that severely limited my mobility. I say surprising, because I thought I was in quite good shape. Once the climbing began, I noticed that I had considerable trouble with my right leg and foot which very much limited many of Victor's options. In addition, the airlines lost my luggage so I was without proper foot wear or clothing. The leg is now a real problem.
Ultimately, we were successful due to his persistence and knowledge of the animals. It seemed that he knew every move they would make.
Victor showed me so much and explained everything about the flora and fauna of the region we were hunting. He made sure that we ate in great establishments. Spanish food can be wonderful. I also got to meet several of his friends and neighbours, which made meal time very enjoyable.
I booked a few extra days to stay at his home town and tour the area. This was a real bonus. I would strongly recommend anyone contemplating hunting with Victor to allow him to show you around, as he is very knowledgeable and a a very proud Spaniard.
Any negatives I experienced were due to the frustration of lost luggage and my leg.

Ignacio does an amazing job! I have hunted internationally (South Africa, New Zealand, Kyrgyzstan, Zimbabwe) as well as Alaska on multiple ocasions, and I can honestly say that this has been one of the best experiences.
I traveled with my rifle, and Ignacio made sure everything was in order prior to my trip and had everything ready to go when I arrived.
We hunted in great areas, and were able to see a lot of game. I was able to harvest great animals, and Ignacio was very committed to making sure I had the opportunity to take an impressive trophy.
I would not hesitate to hunt with Ignacio again, and I am already planning my next hunting trip to Spain.
I truly had no complaints. If you are looking for an exceptional guide and experience look no further.

This was my first hunt with Ignacio, but certainly not my last.
We hunted South eastern ibex and I was able to bag a good buck. the game and the landscape are stunning. for me at the age of 65, the trip was challenging, but that's what makes a good mountain hunt.
Ignatio's rifle is perfect for mountain hunting and shoots very precisely. You can confidently rent it and save yourself the hassle of travelling with your own gun
After nearly 100 hunting trips in foreign countries and several years living in Namibia I can say that Ignacio is one of the best and in all things most correct and polite professional hunters I have hunted with.
the hotel was quite noisy, but that is the Spanish way of life and is far outweighed by the excellent cuisine
