Hartmanns zebra hunting in Namibia ({{totalToursString}})
Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra have mule-like features and as their name indicates, have a preference for the harsh mountain habitats of Namibia. This is a true Namibian endemic species but has been introduced to South Africa. Apart from its choice of habitat, this species has narrower stripes than a Plains Zebra and no shadow stripes. These stripes run all the way down the legs to the hooves and not around the white under belly like the Burchell’s Zebra. Mature stallions have a very noticeable dewlap. Both males and females have mule-like faces with an obvious brown patch on the nose.
Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra are found in mountainous regions of the country from the north to the south, excluding the Caprivi. As opposed to most Namibian species their numbers increase from east to west, a surprising trend as annual rainfall figures decrease from east to west making for harsher climatic conditions and less potential grazing.
It is impressive how fast these animals can run over the broken rocky mountainous terrain which also provides great habitat for Leopards. Many outfitters believe these Zebras have the best meat for baiting Leopards in Namibia. Zebras live in small groups known as harems protected by a dominant stallion who will readily fight by kicking and biting to defend his dominance over the females, other males and even predators.
Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra are increasing in number although listed as vulnerable by the IUCN. CITES permits are required for the import and export of these trophies to Europe and the USA.

Looking for the best hunting trips...
Why do I see different types of prices?
There are two types of hunts on our platform: Package Hunts and Customizable Hunts. Package Hunts are fixed offers. Customizable Hunts usually allow you to select species and other parameters (number of hunters and guests, etc.) and then you can see the final price of your hunt.
"Package price" tag - this price tag is shown for package hunts, and it's a final price for an offer.
"Price from" tag - we show this tag for customizable hunts either when you search for particular species or when there is only one type of species in an offer. In both cases we include the minimum trophy fee available for this type of animal. It means that you see the final price of the offer, but you can also customize it (e.g. you can include a bigger trophy into your hunt).
"Daily rate fee" tag - this price does NOT include trophy fee. For example, if you are searching for a destination and we can't figure out the species you want, then we show this tag. You will need to include trophies from a hunt page.
