Golden gemsbuck hunting in South Africa {{ totalToursString }}
Golden Gemsbuck is a genetically manipulated colour variant bred by game ranchers out of a regular Gemsbuck, also known as an Oryx. This species occurs predominantly in arid and semi-arid areas of South Africa. They are also found on well-drained Bushveld soils, the central plateau of the Free State and mountainous regions of the Western and Eastern Cape.
Golden Gemsbuck hunts in South Africa are limited due to availability as many ranches are still trying to breed their numbers up and the current high trophy fees are also a deterrent to many trophy hunters. As their numbers increase, trophy fees are expected to be more realistic as has been the case with many other colour variant species.
Golden Gemsbuck is not recognised by the SCI record book and classified the same as a Southern Gemsbuck as species of least concern by the IUCN, no special permits are required to hunt these magnificent impressive beasts.
