Fallow deer hunting in South Africa ({{totalToursString}})
Fallow Deer is not indigenous to Africa and were introduced some hundred and fifty years ago to South Africa from Europe. This species has adapted well to most habitats and has been listed as a problem animal in some provinces and regions where they may not be introduced or are shot on site by the wildlife authorities in some areas. Most Fallow deer are reddish-brown with spots but do vary from black to white. Only the males grow branched antlers.
They are mainly hunted in the Free State, Mpumalanga, Eastern, Western and Northern Cape provinces. Being a deer species the males shed their antlers each year around November and take approximately four months to grow back. During the growing period the antlers are covered in velvet and as the animal matures, so does the antler length and the width of the palms, peaking at six to seven years of age.
Their meat is delicious and recommended when hunting for the pot. As is the case with most species, venison from a hunted female or younger male is far more tender than a trophy buck.
Classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN, no special hunting permits are required.

Looking for the best hunting trips...
Why do I see different types of prices?
There are two types of hunts on our platform: Package Hunts and Customizable Hunts. Package Hunts are fixed offers. Customizable Hunts usually allow you to select species and other parameters (number of hunters and guests, etc.) and then you can see the final price of your hunt.
"Package price" tag - this price tag is shown for package hunts, and it's a final price for an offer.
"Price from" tag - we show this tag for customizable hunts either when you search for particular species or when there is only one type of species in an offer. In both cases we include the minimum trophy fee available for this type of animal. It means that you see the final price of the offer, but you can also customize it (e.g. you can include a bigger trophy into your hunt).
"Daily rate fee" tag - this price does NOT include trophy fee. For example, if you are searching for a destination and we can't figure out the species you want, then we show this tag. You will need to include trophies from a hunt page.
