Crawshay's Zebra hunting in Mozambique
We found 2 hunts
Crawshay’s Zebra, a subspecies of the Plains Zebra, is popular among game hunters in Mozambique due to its striking black-and-white stripe patterns and the challenge it presents in the wild. This animal may be hunted in northeastern Mozambique.
Originally four subspecies of Zebra occurred in Mozambique. Today only three remain, the Damara, Selou and Crawshay's. These Zebra are often generically incorrectly referred to as Burchell’s Zebra instead of Plains Zebra.
Hunting Zebras in Mozambique is not just a sport but also a means of supporting local communities. Fees paid by hunters often go towards anti-poaching initiatives and conservation projects. Moreover, meat and resources from hunted Zebras are frequently distributed among local communities, contributing to food security and local livelihoods. Balancing tourism, conservation, and responsible hunting practices is key to maintaining Mozambique’s wildlife heritage.
Crawshay’s Zebra is listed under Plains Zebra as a species of least concern by the IUCN and only a Mozambican hunting licence is required to shoot a Zebra
