Common Duiker hunting in Zambia
We found 1 hunt
Common Duikers also known as Grey Duikers or Grimm’s Duikers, hunted in Zambia fall into three groupings, namely, the Angolan grouping, Southern and the East African grouping. These groupings can roughly be divided in two, with two-thirds of these Duikers occurring in the central and western areas (Kafue region) belonging to the Angolan group and the other third, the East African Bush Duiker group falling in the Luangwa hunting areas. Very few Duikers are hunted in the remaining narrow distribution band in the southern region of the country.
When hunting in Zambia’s most popular game management area, the Luangwa Valley, you would be shooting a Nyasa Bush Duiker. In the west, this would be an Angolan Bush Duiker and the narrow band in the extreme south, a Steinhardt's Duiker.
Originally called a “Duikerbok” by the Dutch settlers with reference to an antelope or goat. Eventually, the name Duiker was picked up universally to describe the species.
Classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN and no special hunting permits are required.
