Chandler's Mountain Reedbuck hunting in Tanzania

Chandler’s Mountain Reedbuck are sometimes referred to as Chanler’s Mountain Reedbuck is one of the smallest Reedbuck species. This close relative to the Common and Bohor Reedbuck of East Africa, have shorter forward curving horns with tawny grey coloured fur and a distinctive white belly. They are a water-dependent species found grazing on rocky slopes that are inaccessible to many other species. Chandler’s Mountain Reedbuck are the northern population of Mountain Reedbuck found in East Africa. In Tanzania, they can be hunted in the mountainous regions of Masailand. Chandler’s Mountain Reedbuck are found in small family herds grazing on grassy ridges in broken country, dominated by small rocky outcrops and volcanic lava flows. This species is often less nocturnal than other Reedbucks and being a diurnal animal is most active at early dawn and dusk. During the day they rest up amongst the rocks and their camouflage makes them very difficult to see. Due to their decreasing numbers in East Africa, they are classified as endangered by the IUCN. However, at this stage, no special permits are required to hunt this species other than a pre-arranged hunting license.
