Where to hunt Chandler's Mountain Reedbuck
Chanler’s Mountain Reedbuck, also known as Chandler's Mountain Reedbuck is one of the smallest Reedbuck species. Named after William Astor Chanler in Kenya 1889. It derives its name from its fulvous red colour and is found in isolated pockets with suitable mountainous habitats in Eastern Africa as opposed to the more common Mountain Reedbuck found in South Africa. Often seen grazing or resting amongst the rocks of the mountain slopes, making full use of their camouflage to blend in with their surroundings. This Reedbuck species may be hunted in Ethiopia, Eastern Uganda and Northern Tanzania.

Chanler’s Mountain Reedbuck trophy fee prices range from around $1000 in Ethiopia to $450 in Tanzania. Prices for this species are somewhere in the middle in Uganda at $850. Daily rates in these countries are highly variable depending on which other species you will be hunting during your safari. Also, keep in mind that if you are hunting in Tanzania you will require a 16 – 21 day license.
When to hunt Chandler's Mountain Reedbuck?
Chanler’s Mountain Reedbuck may be hunted year-round In Ethiopia and from 1 July – 31 December in Uganda and Tanzania. Being nocturnal animals, they are best hunted in the early morning before bedding down for most of the day. Once bedded they are difficult to see and unlikely to move until late afternoon. These animals need to drink regularly and will move down the mountain to find water during the heat of the day.
