Bushbuck hunting in Zambia
We found 1 hunt
Only one subspecies of Bushbuck occurs in Zambia. The Chobe Bushbuck is well distributed throughout the country. They are relatively abundant where suitable riverine habitat and floodplain vegetation is protected from poachers. They also flourish on game ranches with suitable habitat.
This Bushbuck must be one of the most amazingly beautiful antelope. Chobe Bushbuck are often a brightly chestnut colour with distinctive white stripes and spotted flanks. Being nocturnal animals they are best hunted in the early morning or late afternoon. During the day they rest up in thickets and are never found far from water.
Bushbuck will often freeze to avoid the attention of a prowling predator or hunter. Should they decide to take flight, they often make a number of dog-like barking alarm calls whilst flashing the white underside of their tails and dash off to seek refuge in thick cover.
Bushbuck are classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN and no special hunting permits are required to export a trophy.
