Bushbuck hunting in Cameroon

Bushbuck, a small to medium-sized antelope are widely spread across Africa. This group of animals has created much controversy with regard to subspecies identification and distribution. Only one subspecies of Bushbuck occurs in Cameroon. This is probably the most impressively coloured and marked Bushbuck. The Harnessed Bushbuck was the first of the species to be named and takes its name from the harness-like stripes on its flanks. A Bushbuck’s alarm call sounds like a dog bark and hunters should always be weary of tracking a wounded Bushbuck as they are known to attack both humans and dogs during a follow-up. Bushbuck are listed as a species of least concern by the IUCN.
