Rhino hunting in South Africa {{ totalToursString }}
Two species of Rhino occur in South Africa, namely the White or Square-lipped Rhinoceros and the Black or Hook-lipped Rhino.
The White Rhino is the larger of the two species and is a grazer, whilst the Black Rhino is a browser and can be a very aggressive animal. Both species may be hunted although Black Rhino hunting permits are limited to non-breeding animals well past their breeding prime.
Special hunting restrictions and permits apply. Hunters must have a proven hunting track record to be eligible for a Rhino hunting permit.
White Rhinos are classified as near threatened and Black Rhinos are classified as critically endangered by the IUCN. CITES I and II permits are required when hunting these animals.
