Why Greenland

Warm-Weather Muskox Hunts
Muskox can be hunted in the summer and fall in Greenland, often in pleasant 60-degree temperatures. Winter hunts are also available for a more traditional experience

Large, Abundant Caribou
Greenland is home to many large caribou (also called reindeer), with most scoring in the 300- to 350-inch range and sometimes larger—one that scored 458 SCI points was taken here in 2015

Stunning Scenery
Greenland is a beautiful country to explore, with plenty of post-hunt activities such as sightseeing, photography, and fishing for Arctic char
About hunting in Greenland
Greenland is the world’s largest island and its most sparsely populated country. It is part of the Danish Commonwealth; its government is mostly autonomous although Denmark oversees certain aspects such as the military and foreign affairs. Greenland has an excellent system of wildlife management, and its wildlife is thriving. Muskox and caribou/reindeer are the main draws for hunters. Trophy quality for muskox is outstanding, with many older bulls qualifying for the Boone and Crockett record book. Hunters will typically see many muskox during the course of a hunting day. In addition, there are plenty of caribou on the island, including many large-antlered, mature bulls.

Visas
No visa is required for citizens of the United States or Canada who are visiting as tourists for a stay up to 90 days. For more information on visa requirements, see https://greenland.visahq.com.
Firearms
Hunts may be done with rifles or archery equipment, and bringing your own gun or bow into Greenland is not a problem. Most outfitters recommend .30-caliber rifles with shot distances averaging 50 to 150 yards for muskox and 100 to 300 yards for caribou. Hunters may be required to present a valid hunting license and/or proof of hunting certification from their home country. Check with your outfitter for specifics, or apply in advance for a firearm permit here.

Everything was great:
Animals/fish: muskox, arctic hare, arctic fox, ptarmigan, cod. Our group got 4 big mature muskox bulls the first morning of the hunt out of one herd. Everyone was happy with their bulls. One guy in camp caught a cod we estimated at 22-24 lbs which was unheard of. 2 of us got fox...2 of us got arctic hare. The other guys weren't interested in either one or they could've taken them. Everyone got ptarmigan.
Guides: they worked hard for us...even after we got our muskox.
Food: caribou, muskox, cod, ptarmigan for dinners. Cereal and oatmeal for breakfasts. Sandwiches for lunch. Guides cooked great dinners for us.
Northern Lights: If it's clear, they can be spectacular.
Already wish I was back in camp.
***Don't underestimate the need for good clothes. The trips to camp and to the hunting area can get cold. I wore leather hunting boots and my feet got cold on the way to camp. The rest of the trip had great weather and I never got cold again.
***You may want to consider changeable tickets for your flights. We had one cancellation due to weather that caused quite a hassle given it took 3 airlines to get there. We almost had to buy a new ticket to get home but finally got some help after 3 hours on the phone. One guy from another camp had to buy a ticket home for $2250 when his flights couldn't be changed.
Nothing...trip was great.

Our group got 4 great bulls the first morning. Guides worked hard keeping us busy fishing and hunting small game.
Long atv ride to the hunting area but the new camp being built will solve this.

The constant effort to get you on game.
The outfitter was awesome, the airline getting me there really lacks.

Great adventure. Not your average hunt with a lot of physical hiking. Very remote. Expect to do 5 mile hike in and out with your pack. Walking sticks were helpful for the hike in and out. Then 5-12 mile hikes per day for hunts. Guides and helpers were very experienced, friendly and helpful. They will pack out trophies for minimal fee.
Pack for every kind weather but for sure cold wet nights. Cold but manageable/comfortable sleeping huts. Be ready for blisters and wet feet.

Trophy Hunt Greenland was an exceptional experience. The professional hunters and guides were very knowledgeable and hard working. This was a perfectly challenging hunt but not for the faint of heart. Equivalent to a back country elk hunt in the United States. Ability to hunt small game and waterfowl after our trophies were harvested was as exciting and action packed as the hunt for large game. The variety of game we ate was awesome and delicious.
Hard to find anything to complain about.
