Vervet Monkey hunting in Zimbabwe

Vervet Monkeys are a light grey colour with a black face. The larger males have very prominent blue genitalia. They have long tails and are swift tree climbers. They are a very vocal species making an assortment of chattering noises and a high pitched scream when alarmed. Vervet Monkeys occur across the country and even thrive in the suburban areas where they can become absolute pests, raiding crops, vegetable gardens and fruit orchards. In extreme cases, they even raid houses and camps after becoming habituated by people feeding them. In many instances, you will be doing your outfitter a favour by shooting some of these camp pests. To hunt a monkey in the wild can be quite tricky as they have great sight and a height advantage when sitting high up in a tree. They are often found near water and on a cold sunny morning can be found sunning themselves in the branches of a tree. Monkeys can also be a nuisance during a stalk as they may alert other animals in the region with their alarm calls giving away your position. Vervet Monkeys are considered as a species of least concern by the IUCN. However, if trophies are imported to the United States, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has special import regulations that concern the importation of these trophies.
