About this hunt
Scabies is making it increasingly difficult to find good animals in the best traditional areas. However, our area, which covers more than 50,000 hectares, still has parts where scabies has not yet arrived. If you don't yet have a Beceite ibex, now is your chance. Licences are scarce in this area, so reserve yours today
The Beceite Ibex (Capra pyrenaica hispanica) is one of the four recognized subspecies of the Spanish Ibex, native to the eastern mountain ranges of Spain. Adult males typically weigh between 70 and 100 kilograms (155–220 lbs), while females are smaller, averaging 35 to 45 kilograms (77–99 lbs). Males are characterized by their impressive, laterally curved horns that open outward and backward, forming a distinctive lyre shape. Horn length can reach up to 90 centimeters (35 inches), with pronounced annual growth rings that indicate age.
The coat varies seasonally — darker and thicker in winter, lighter and shorter in summer — providing excellent camouflage in rocky and forested terrain. The Beceite Ibex is highly adapted to steep, rugged landscapes, with strong limbs and exceptional climbing ability. Its natural range extends across the Maestrazgo mountains in the provinces of Teruel and Castellón, where it thrives in Mediterranean mountain ecosystems.
Hunting Area – Maestrazgo
The Maestrazgo region offers one of the most authentic and scenic hunting environments in Spain. The landscape is dominated by limestone mountains, deep valleys, and dense forests of holm oak, pine, and beech, interspersed with open meadows and rocky cliffs — the perfect habitat for the Beceite Ibex.
The area sits at an average altitude of 1,200 meters (3,940 ft), with surrounding peaks such as Penyagolosa, the highest mountain in the province of Castellón, reaching 1,813 meters (5,948 ft).
The Maestrazgo’s combination of altitude, vegetation, and climate creates a unique ecosystem that supports not only the Ibex but also wild boar, roe deer, and numerous bird species.
