Suni hunting in Tanzania {{ totalToursString }}
Two Suni subspecies occur in Tanzania. The SCI record book simply lists them as East African Suni. If hunting in Southern Tanzania you will come across Livingstone's Suni. However, according to research, the Zanzibar Suni is the most commonly hunted Suni hunted in Tanzania.
The main difference between the two Suni subspecies mentioned above is that the Zanzibar Suni is duller in colour and has shorter horns than the Livingstone's Suni. This forest-dwelling Pygmy antelope makes for a challenging hunt. They respond well to callers but keep a safe distance often in a little undergrowth making for a difficult shot. Most hunters use either a shotgun or large calibre rifle with a solid to hunt Suni to ensure minimal hide damage. In some areas, these animals are heavily poached by poachers using dogs and flashlights at night.
Classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN. A 16-day license must be arranged before hunting a Suni.
