We offer you guided hunting safaris on our exquisite game ranch just south of Windhoek, Namibia. There are 25 species of plains game on 60 000 acres of privately owned land, making this game ranch the perfect location for plains game hunting. To ensure the ultimate hunting experience combined with appreciating the unique Namibian environment we recommend planning your hunting trip to last around 10 to 12 days (hunting season starts on 1 February and ends on 30 November). Our policy of not taking double bookings can make your dream come true of being the only hunter/group on 94 square miles / 243 square km free range. Together with a success rate of 90% of the hunting trophies acquired on the ranch qualifying for gold medals according to the Namibian quality control system hunters are guaranteed of a successful hunting safari. A typical hunting day will start bright and early before sunrise with a hearty breakfast buffet. The hunting method employed is spotting and stalking. (recommended rifles - .270 thru to .300). Depending on the success of the hunt, lunch will be served either at the lodge or on the plains as not to interrupt the progress made on the hunting safari. Hunting will continue into the afternoon if so desired by the guests or visit the cheetahs and attend a cheetah feeding. For Leopard and Cheetah hunt minimum of 14 hunting days required. This unique change in biospheres results in huge animal diversity. the landscape and habitats vary from deep wide valley bushveld with thick riverine bush, home of the Eastern Cape Kudu as well as Cape Bushbuck, Nyala, Warthog, and Bush pig. The sides of the valleys/canyons make for great vantage points. A lot of time is spent at theses elevated points glassing for trophies. On the plateau above the valley lies the savanna and scattered woodlands. This is home to species such as Impala, Sable, Zebra, Waterbuck and Mountain Reedbuck. These plateaus also make great vantage points for glassing and the start of many long stalks. The savanna gradually gives way to the long rolling Bedford plains which were once the place of vast animal migrations across the Eastern Cape. These plains are where Springbuck, Blesbok and Black Wildebeest are found and often ambushed from behind the endless anthills which make for good hiding places. These plains give way to the Kaggaberg Mountain range with valleys and box canyons, home to the Eland, Cape Bushbuck and Kudu.

We cater for rifle and bow hunting but have areas dedicated to bow hunting only, which will give you a better hunting experience. There are established hides at waterholes and we can rig up blinds for special needs as well. We offer walk and stalk bow hunting for the more experienced hunter or those looking for a challenge. There is a range with targets available for practice or to check your bow’s accuracy before the hunt. Rifle hunters can enjoy the bush, whilst hunting for trophies. A shooting range is also available for ranging of your rifles before the hunt. Rifle hunting is done on walk and stalk and only fair chase will be allowed. Pistol, muzzleloader and crossbow hunting is also allowed. There is a wide range of species that can be hunted and more details can be obtained on request.

The area is enormous and has a very varied biodiversity. The daily driving distance is within a 30-60 min. drive. The hunt is usually done as a mix of driving in open safari jeeps to find the game, and stalking. These arrangements are done in close coordination with your PH (Professional Hunter) who always accompanies you during the hunt, and is there solely to assist and help in any way possible. Furthermore you will be accompanied by highly qualified Trackers that can find even the smallest of tracks left behind. A typical day starts at around 5.30, with a big continental breakfast followed by a quick drive to your designated hunting area where you, together with your PH and Tracker will start your hunt. As the heat starts to rise, and the animals stop being active, its time for a mid-day break. You either drive back to The Elephant Lodge, or you rest under a three whilst lunch is prepared. After an energizing meal and well deserved break you start up again, and continue until sunset – or when you wish to return to The Elephant Lodge.
