Springhare hunting in Zimbabwe

Springhares are small, fawn-coloured creatures with a kangaroo-like appearance, characterised by short forelegs, powerful hind legs, and a long black-tipped tail. Their strong, curved claws on the forelimbs are well-adapted for digging up vegetative matter, which constitutes most of their diet. As nocturnal animals, Springhares have large, prominent eyes that aid their night-time activities. this species is primarily hunted for display purposes as Springhares are used as prey species by taxidermists for mounting small predators. They sleep in burrows during the day and emerge at night to forage, making them typically hunted with the aid of a spotlight. Their large eyes reflect brightly at night, and their distinctive bobbing motion as they hop on their hind legs makes them easy to spot. The IUCN classifies Springhares as a species of least concern, but if trophies are imported into the United States, the USDA has specific rodent import regulations that govern their importation.
