Southern greater kudu hunting in Namibia

Southern Greater Kudu, the Elk of Africa is top of everyone’s African hunting bucket list, be you a first-timer or a returning client hoping for an opportunity to shoot that elusive sixty-inch “Grey Ghost of the Bushveld”. An impressive species with massive spiral horns are sought after both as a trophy and for its meat. Southern Greater Kudu flourishes in Namibia, especially in the semi-wooded areas. Being incredible jumpers, they mostly live an unperturbed life being able to clear the average game fence in a single leap whilst travelling great distances in search of high-quality food. Periodically their numbers are affected by drought and regionalised rabies outbreaks but their numbers bounce back pretty quickly after such natural events. Although available over a large portion of the country, the best Kudu hunting is in central Namibia, north of the capital Windhoek. The southern ranges of the north-western (Erongo Mountains) region is another hot spot to hunt these impressive beats. The Southern Greater Kudu is classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN and no special hunting permits are required other than a standard Namibian hunting license which will be prearranged by your outfitter.
