Sitatunga hunting in Cameroon
We found 3 hunts
The Sitatunga in Cameroon is a swamp-dwelling antelope known for its elongated, splayed hooves and water-resistant coat, which is typically brown with white stripes and spots. Males have twisted horns and are darker in colour.
Of the three subspecies found in Africa, only the Forest Sitatunga is found in Cameroon. Forest Sitatunga, also known as ‘Marshbuck’ are larger in the body than their southern swamp cousins.
The best place to hunt sitatunga in Cameroon is in the dense swamps and riverine forests of the eastern regions of the country. These areas offer the ideal wetland habitats that the Sitatunga prefers.
Sitatunga numbers are decreasing but they are still classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN and no special permits are required to hunt a Sitatunga other than a Cameroon hunting license.
