Serval hunting in Zimbabwe
We found 1 hunt
Serval is a slender golden-yellow spotted medium-sized cat with a small rounded head, large ears and long legs. Serval may be confused with a young Cheetah. They prefer thicker woodlands, tall grasslands with sufficient shelter and available water.
Serval is found countrywide but more commonly sighted in the mixed grasslands, swampy and riverine areas of the central plateau. They are least likely to be encountered in the overgrazed areas in the low altitude hunting areas (Zambezi Valley) where the larger predators dominate the rangelands.
In most hunting areas night hunting is not permitted which makes this nocturnal animal a trophy of opportunity as these cats are usually solitary feeding mostly at night on rodents and birds. Should the opportunity arise for a quick shot after disturbing or bumping into one of these cats, be ready to take a quick shot.
Classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN and no CITES permits are required to import or export these trophies.
