I had the opportunity to hunt with Wolverine Range Outfitters with the brief amount of time I had between duty stations. The whole team at Wolverine Range Outfitters were stellar. From the moment I met up with my guide Ben and for the duration of the hunt, everyone gave their best efforts to maximize my experience in the back country. The area is stunning and the hunting is fantastic; I simply cannot recommend them enough! The trip culminated poetically when Ben put me on an absolute tank on my birthday. They made my first bear hunting experience as if I was hunting with friends, and I will forever be grateful!

Excellent Hunt

Excellent hunting experience. Took my son and wife spring black bear hunting. We had the last hunt of the season. I was less than optimistic. I was wrong. Saw 20+ bears in the 3 days of hunting. Killed a huge black bear and my son killed a great cinnamon. Great guide, great outfitter and great territory. Thank you for making such great memories.

I want to share my impressions of our mountain goat hunt! It was an incredible adventure, and I was so pleased to spend this time with Rays family))
A special and huge thank you to my guide, Zack! His professionalism and dedication were beyond all praise. Despite the challenging weather conditions that came our way, Zack never lost his optimism or confidence. His outstanding physical skills and his ability to read the mountain helped us achieve our goal safely and effectively. Great Guides, Awesome Hospitality, Big Country

Ray and Sarah and their team of guides provided excellent hospitality always trying to make us feel at home. Food was good and there was always more than we could personally eat each day. It seems like all the guides hunt extremely hard, but they are more than willing cater to your hunting style and/or any limitations you have. They were always open to suggestions. We hunted with Ben and it's been a long time since I've seen a hunter work as hard as he did for opportunities. We were able to get one bull, but not our second (two hunters with tags) although we did have multiple opportunities at bulls and some great encounters while calling. It's big country and most of the walking isn't that difficult due to mild terrain, but I would make sure you're in shape to walk more than you think in the event the bulls aren't responding well to calls. If you are interested in small game it is more than worth it to add your small game license; I've never seen more grouse in my life they were everywhere up there.
If I had it to do over I would go with a slightly later hunt. It felt like the rut was really just starting to kick-off the last few days of our hunt, but that's hunting and obviously in no way is that controllable by the outfitter.

Good value goat hunt. Very physically demanding but that was exactly what we wanted. If you can hike hard you'll get a crack at a goat. Guide was phenomenal! We filled 2 out of 2 goat tags in the 1st 2 days of our hunt.
Moose trophy potential is very good, but the hunt is a grind. Weather was warm during 1st week of season and action was slow. We filled 1 of 2 Moose tags, we could've filled both but passed a small bull. For moose hunts I highly recommend 1on1 guided, during the last week of sept. and 1st week of oct.
Trophy potential for goats is lower, and they harvest a fair amount of nannies. My goat was very large 9 1/2" nanny. An old billy is not impossible by any means, but if you're set on killing a really big old billy then pay the extra money and hunt elsewhere. I think this hunt is priced very fairly for the goat you'll have a chance to shoot, and you get a full taste of the physical nature of a goat hunt.

Opening week of moose very slow

The guides were very nice and Sarah was an amazing cook. Camp had all the amenities needed and Ray was very helpful when my gear arrived a day late and let me borrow his items.
The weather was warm and the moose weren't moving or answering calls. Due to our schedules we could only hunt opening week which I wouldn't recommend. Of the 3 groups hunting in camp, nobody saw a bull worth shooting while we were there.
