I have enjoyed hunting and the outdoors my entire life and have known Jerry Cates since March 2024, when he served as my guide in Alaska. We spent about 20 days together across spring and fall hunts, including grizzly and sheep. Jerry managed camp logistics, meals, animal care, and multiple hunters with efficiency and a consistently positive attitude. He communicates clearly, sets realistic expectations, and showed strong character in demanding conditions. He also made extra effort to help a hunter with limited mobility get in front of a bear. And while I came to hunt, I apparently signed up for trash duty—Jerry doesn’t pass it by.
Jerry exemplifies high moral and ethical standards. He follows hunting laws, respects the animals, and takes great care in preserving meat and hides, often staying up late to do it right. Safety was always a priority, and he made sound decisions. Jerry is generous, professional, and deeply committed to people and the land. In summary, I could not design a better Alaskan hunting guide.

A couple years ago I booked a Grizzly Bear Hunt with an outfitter known as Track Of The Grizzly, that would soon to be a memory of a lifetime. Upon arriving to Anchorage, AK I was greeted at the airport by my guide that would lead me to an adventurous Bear hunt deep into the most wildest places I have ever been. Each day was exciting to just be out there emersed in Alaskas beauty, and when I least expected it my guide tapped me on the shoulder. I looked over and there he was, an adult Grizzly that moments later became my trophy. My guide lead me to the places he had been investigating for years and considered the conditions we had would be our best chances of success. Track Of The Grizzly out performed all my expectations and I look forward to the next hunt with them in the near future!
