Where to hunt Mongoose
Different species of mongoose inhabit many areas in the tropical and subtropical climate. However, most hunting opportunities are focused on the white-tailed mongoose in South Africa.
Price distribution
Mongoose is a relatively uncommon hunting quarry, and typically not the primary target of most safaris. In regions where mongoose hunting is available, it may come as a part of a larger small game package, the pricing of which depends on duration and other included animals, or, if a hunter harvests one, the outfitter charges a trophy fee of between $100 and $500.

When to hunt Mongoose?
The optimal time for hunting mongoose largely depends on the species and the geographical region. In South Africa, mongoose hunting can also occur year-round, although in the north of the country the months from December to February are usually too hot and no hunting activities take place.

Hunting methods
Mongoose are known for their quick reflexes and cunning behavior, making them an elusive target. They are primarily hunted using small caliber rifles or shotguns due to their small size and agility. When mongoose are targeted purposefully, they are mostly hunted at night, with night vision devices or artificial light, if legal. However, most mongoose are harvested as a game of opportunity, if the hunters encounter them in the course of a spot-and-stalk plains game hunt, or if the little predator shows up near a blind where the hunter awaits another game.
