Lechwe hunting in Zambia
We found 1 hunt
Zambia is a Lechwe hunter's dream. The country boasts five subspecies of Lechwe. This includes the following: Red Lechwe in the west, Kafue Lechwe in the central region, Black Lechwe in the Bangweulu Swamp region and two smaller pockets of Upemba and Robert’s Lechwe. However, these are normally broken down into three groups, the Red, Black and Kafue Lechwe.
Black Lechwe: A striking antelope characterized by its shaggy black and tan coat, complemented by a white underbelly.
Red Lechwe: Red in colour with black striping on the forelegs with white underparts.
The Kafue Lechwe: This is similar to the Red Lechwe, however, the black striping markings on the foreleg extend up onto the shoulder.
Classified as a vulnerable species by the IUCN, Lechwe can be hunted without the need for special permits, although a Zambian hunting license must be obtained prior to the hunt.
