Kudu hunting in Zimbabwe

Kudu is the equivalent of “Africa’s Elk” and is normally the top animal on everybody's African hunting bucket list. Regular African hunters spend years trying to improve on the size of their first Kudu trophy. These magnificent beasts with their long spiral horns are sought after both as trophies and for their meat. Kudu can be found countrywide in Zimbabwe which has also produced some of the most impressive free-range trophy quality animals. Prime Kudu habitat normally includes some hilly habitat which is found evenly distributed throughout the country. Known as the “Grey Ghost” these animals can elude hunters by simply just disappearing and one of their favourite tricks is to stand dead (freeze) still in a thicket and let hunters walk past without being spotted. Most hunters like to hunt them during the rut when the males join the cowherds after which the males form bachelor groups or just become solitary animals. Kudu can be hunted year-round. They are classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN and no special hunting permits are required.
