Kudu hunting in Zambia
We found 1 hunt
Kudu, often dubbed "Africa’s Elk," holds a coveted spot on many hunters' African bucket lists. Regular hunters in Africa often spend years striving to surpass the size of their initial Kudu trophy. These majestic creatures, with their distinctive long spiral horns, are highly prized both as trophies and for their meat.
In Zambia, Kudu (Southern Greater Kudu) is widespread in the country except in the far western Zambezi River catchment area of Barotsiland. The ideal habitat for Kudu includes hilly areas, which are evenly distributed throughout Zimbabwe, providing prime conditions for these animals to thrive.
Nicknamed the “Grey Ghost,” Kudu are known for their elusive nature, often vanishing into their surroundings. One of their favourite tactics is to remain perfectly still in dense thickets, allowing hunters to pass by without noticing them. Many hunters prefer to pursue Kudu during the rutting season when males join the cow herds, before later forming bachelor groups or becoming solitary.
Kudu can be hunted throughout the year. Classified by the IUCN as a species of least concern, they do not require special hunting permits.
