Impala hunting in Zambia
We found 2 hunts
Impala are very agile animals of the savannahs and are regularly hunted by both predators and hunters. Only the males have horns and will defend a territory during the peak of the rut in April – May. They can also be found in large bachelor groups.
Three subspecies of Impala are found in Zambia. In the northwest, you find the Katanga Impala, in the northeast, the Nyalasaland or Johnson’s Impala. However, for the record book purposes, they are all lumped under the Southern Impala category, as are the Impalas found in the Southern Province of Zambia.
For many first-time hunters to Africa, this will be the first animal they ever hunt. Impalas are hunted for the pot, staff rations, bait animals and as trophy animals. Impalas are very alert animals and difficult to stalk when in a herd giving a short blasting snort at the first signs of danger.
Prearranged hunting licenses are required to hunt an Impala and no special permits are required to export this species.
