Hartebeest hunting in Cameroon {{ totalToursString }}
The Common Hartebeest group is divided into seven subspecies. Only one of these subspecies occurs in Cameroon, the Western Hartebeest.
The Western Hartebeest is the largest of the Hartebeest family and is characterised by their high forequarters and sloping back, long legs and narrow faces. Both sexes have horns and this thick-set Hartebeest is reddish-golden in colour and has a very distinctive light bar across its face between its eyes. The males have heavy and deeply ridged horns that rise up from their heads in a U-shape and then bend backwards, giving them a very unique appearance similar to a Red Hartebeest.
They are listed as a species of least concern by the IUCN and no special hunting permits are required.
