Grysbuck hunting in Zambia
We found 1 hunt
Of the two Grysbuck species that occur in Africa, only the Sharpe’s Grysbuck occurs in Zambia. Genetically, this group is split into the northern and southern subspecies. Only the Northern Sharpe’s Grysbuck occurs throughout Zambia except for the extreme western areas.
Grysbuck are a small antelope listed in the pygmy antelope group by SCI. These animals may easily be misidentified with a Steenbuck. On closer inspection, they have very distinctive white speckles that look like grey hairs spread across their bodies.
Grysbuck are mostly nocturnal and live in pairs that mark their territories using dung middens. Only the males have horns. During the heat of the day they rest up and when disturbed, run away with their heads held low.
Grysbok is listed by the IUCN as a species of least concern.
