The Matetsi Units are the best remaining wild, free range, fair chase hunting areas in Africa today, there is no doubt in my mind about that fact, this is true for all big game species. Unit 5 has natural drinking water all year around making the unit a hot spot to animals from the adjoining Hwange National Park that is the biggest National Park in Zimbabwe and home to an overwhelming number of wild, free roaming animals. 7 DAY PLAINS GAME PACKAGE (Daily Rates included. No trophies included.) During this tailormade made hunt you can hunt plains game species of your choice from the price list. Typical days hunting involves driving around the concession looking for spoor or fresh signs of the animals you want to hunt. Once the spoor is found, we set out on foot tracking the animal until found. If a suitable trophy is located, then a walk and stalk hunt will commence. Leopard, lion and hyena are baited. Once a suitable animal is feeding on the bait, then we build a blind.

Elephant hunting in Dande South is seasonal with the prime time being early season from March to May. The reason for this is because the local villagers crops ripen during this time and this attracts bulls from both Mozambique and the neighboring national parks safari areas which have no crops. Buffalo hunting in Dande is very good as is the whole of the lower Zambezi Valley, this is typical track and stalk hunting and success rate on mature representative buffalo is over 90%. Like any area a bit of hard work and extra effort can see very favourable results for buffalo with bulls in excess of 40 inches being take. The best time of year is May through October. Lion and Leopard hunting in Dande South is superb, being a CAMPFIRE area, which allows hunting after dark success rate in lion and leopard is close to 100%. The main method of hunting cats is by baits and blinds. This is also one of the few areas left in Africa where lioness can be hunted and this is because of the over population of lion in the area which has necessitated lioness being put on quota as a management tool. Plains game hunting in Dande can be rewarding but clients need to know that like all big game areas where the plains game is not protected by high fences it can be tough at times. Dande does however have a good population of sable, kudu, zebra, impala, bushbuck, warthog and hyena. The Hunyani and Angwa Rivers and their tributaries also offer crocodile and hippo. 7 - 10 DAY HIPPO & CROCODILE HUNT The Sengwe (Tribal Trust Land) hunting area includes Crooks Corner (the border between Zimbabwe, Mozambique and South Africa) on the Zimbabwean side that is within in our concession and is a real hot spot for dagga boys and trophy elephant bulls. This area is strong year-round and well known for top trophy quality Elephant and Buffalo, plus Hippo and Crocodile. Also available are the occasional Eland and Kudu bulls that are found in the concessions although the real strength in this area is the big game. There are people living in and around these areas in a low population density, a scenario that has always has been the case since the days that Hemmingway and Bvenkye Barnard hunted here.

10 DAY BUFFALO BULL PACKAGE - $14,650 (No size limit) Hunting Zimbabwe’s vast game reserves and concessions can be a challenge for even the most experienced hunter. Hunting areas are typically one of three different types; governmental, tribal, and private, all of which have their own unique rules. Most of these areas encompass thousands of acres and are non-fenced and open. Hunting areas are mostly mopane forest and dry, grassy savanna but in the Western part of the Matabeleland, there are Valleys and hills with seasonal rivers winding through them. The privately-owned land has three main dams where animals come to drink in the early mornings and late afternoon with baboon congregating around the watering holes in midday. Hunting Zimbabwe is accomplished primarily on foot and we practice fair chase hunting – however, please note, the terrain can be rugged and can at the time be physically demanding. Tracking Elephants for miles and miles or getting onto the fresh tracks of Dugga boys is what we are here for.

We are professionals and we like hunting the classic way. Big game hunting is done mainly on foot, by stalking. To approach dangerous game is an art and situations during a hunt can change any second. To get our clients as close as possible to their preferred game is our goal. If you want to experience hunting free ranging dangerous game, that way we appreciate it. We strictly do not hunt from cars. As most shots on dangerous game are fairly below 70 yards, we advise you to practice off hand shooting or from bipods, the so called shooting sticks... and use enough gun.
