Where to hunt Central African Savanna Buffalo
Central African Savanna Buffalo is much smaller than a Cape Buffalo and lives in a mixed rainforest and savanna habitat. This reddish-black animal with backward sweeping horns are a mix of all the Buffalo from the region, including Forest (Dwarf), Nile Buffalo and even some Cape Buffalo genetics. Central African Savanna Buffalo can be hunted in Cameroon and in Chad.

An 8 -12 day Central African Savanna Buffalo safari in Cameroon has a daily rate price ticket of between $2000 – 3200 depending on what species are selected to be hunted during the hunt and a trophy fee of $2300. In Chad, a 10-day safari will cost between $1500 – 1885 per day depending on the other species you choose to hunt during your safari, with a trophy fee of $2600.
When to hunt Central African Savanna Buffalo?
Central African Savanna Buffalo may only be hunted during the respective hunting seasons, which in Cameroon is from 1 January to 30 June. Chad only has a three-month hunting season that starts on 1 January and finishes on 31 March. They are best hunted in the driest part of the season.

Central African Savanna Buffalo are a water-dependent species so the starting point of most Buffalo hunts is from either a watering point, mud wallow or mineral lick. First, the trackers will search for fresh spoor before taking off after the Buffalo. During the dry season, you may be in for a long walk before making contact with the herd or some dagga boys. In the wet forest areas, walking distance may be shorter but the tracking process can take a little longer before you catch up to your quarry.
