Buffalo hunting in Zambia
We found 2 hunts
The only Buffalo occurring in Zambia is the Cape Buffalo also known as the African Savanna Buffalo. These ox-like beasts must be shown respect at all times. They can be found anywhere from open grasslands, to wooded hills and reedbeds. Buffalo hunting, means getting up close and personal before taking a shot. This creates an adrenalin rush of note, often leaving your mouth dry and creating a sweaty brow.
Buffalo hunting is a fitting climax for most foreign hunters visiting the Dark Continent. Wounded Buffalo are known as dangerous adversaries and have been responsible for numerous hunter fatalities and a number of survivors have war wounds to prove their near encounter with death.
Zambia’s Buffalo stronghold is the Luangwa Valley and is recognised worldwide as the country’s prime Buffalo hunting destination. During the dry season, herds of over a thousand animals may congregate together creating huge dust plumbs that hang in the sky as these animals move across the dry plains in search of food and water. These herds are followed by the ever-present flocks of cattle egrets, oxpeckers and an opportunistic hunting lion pride.
Buffalo is listed as a species of least concern by the IUCN and only a Zambian hunting license is required to hunt a Buffalo.
