Where to hunt Black-Fronted Duiker

Duikers are found throughout sub-Saharan Africa and split into two main groups, the forest duikers and those that inhabit the savannas. Black-fronted Duikers are a forest duiker species that prefers poorly drained marshy dense rainforests of the Congo Basin and montane areas in Kenya where they may not be hunted. When to hunt Black-Fronted Duiker?

In the forested territories of Cameroon, the season runs from March 1 until the end of July. The best months for hunting Black-fronted Duiker are the dry months of April to June although their preferred habitat in Cameroon is wet marshy rainforest. Being diurnal animals they are best hunted at dawn or dusk when they are likely to be found feeding in a marshy area.

Hunting methods

The first method is to conceal yourself in a likely place that may be visited by a Black-fronted Duiker and wait patiently for one to arrive. The alternative method is likely to be more successful and that is to have the trackers imitate the distress call of a small antelope. Black-fronted Duiker takes time and patience to hunt often testing your resolve in the damp humid forest conditions.
