Our bear hunts take place in the months of May and June. Some of the most gorgeous time here in Wyoming! We offer spot and stalk hunts and also over bait sites. With many large black bears and numerous color phase bears in the area, we will do our best to get you the bear of your dreams! We offer a unique hunting experience for either first time or seasoned bear hunters and a hunt that can be shared amongst family members or friends. Our bears typically average 250 pounds with exceptional bears harvested each year between 400-600 pounds. We take a lot of pride in our bear hunts and make them very enjoyable to you by providing a hunt that includes meals, lodging, guide, your stand/ blind, bait, transportation to and from the stand, meals, and skinning of your trophy black bear. We lease and hunt over one hundred and fifty stands located on very remote paper mill land. Our sites are baited thirty days in advance of the hunts to insure that the bears are actively frequenting the stands. You will definitely realize the beauty and peacefulness of our hunting areas. We offer both right and left handed tree stands and ground blinds, and only hunt over active baits. After claiming your trophy, the animal is professionally skinned and quartered to your specifications, upon your return to camp. It is then put into frozen storage awaiting your departure. We offer onsite taxidermy service for your convenience as well. We also have excellent trout fishing available to you or you can hunt coyote once you have taken your bear. Four Bear hunting weeks are offered within the season dates. Arrival is on Sunday at noon and departure is on Saturday morning. You will need a big game hunting license and a bear permit. If you are hunting with archery equipment ONLY then you can purchase an archery license and bear permit. Hunt giant coastal Black Bears in Southeast Alaska’s protein-rich, salmon-fed Rainforest! We have hunts available in both spring and fall every year. Hunts take place from one of our Yachts that serve as "base camp." From there you access the hunting areas in smaller 16 -18 ft boats or “Skiffs.” Spring bear hunting begins in mid-April extending into mid- June. During the spring season, bears emerging from their winter dens venture to the shoreline and grass flats in search of the major source of food this time of year - new plant growth, kelp, and small crustaceans along the coastline. Hunting is a spot-and-stalk style. Skiffs launched from the base-camp vessel are used to cruise promising stretches of shoreline, or to access grass flats where bears come to feed, typically in late evening - often at last light. This is a totally free-range, fair chase hunt that brings you to some of the most magnificent country on Earth - with the added bonus of a chance at a phenomenal World-class Black Bear; often the size of Grizzlies! Hunters should be prepared to hunt in Simms waders and wading boots, and be able to walk at least 2 miles over slick, uneven ground. Shooting distances typically are under 100 yards and hunters should be prepared to shoot from many different positions as a dead rest is not always possible, and shooting sticks are generally not functional in our area. Good optics are a must, as many hours are spent sitting and glassing shorelines. There is always a myriad of wildlife to see other than bears - sea mammals, birds, and whales. Wolf season is open for much of our spring season and we recommend all hunters obtain a tag just in case you are lucky enough to get a chance at one. Our Black Bear hunts are typically 5-6 days long. Black Bear square from 7ft to 8 1/2ft+ with skulls ranging from 17 - 22 inch. Please inquire for available dates!

Vision: Black bears are believed to see in color and have great up close eyesight; however, recent research shows that their long distance eyesight is not very good. They are likely not able to see details of a large objects further than 30 yards away.

We conduct these hunts over bait and it is legal to harvest a grizzly bear over a black bear bait in our area as well as hunt same day airborne for the purposes of bear baiting. We also offer spot and stock 10 day packages. This increases your odds of harvesting an Alaska grizzly. Base hunt cost covers cost of the hunt only and includes 1 black bear, an additional Trophy fee will be due upon harvesting a Grizzly as well as extra black bears. This is a semi-guided economy hunt for a Maine whitetail buck with the option for black bear and coyote as additional opportunities. The black bear season overlaps with firearm season on deer in Maine and IFW allows hunters to take a late-season, fair chase bear during the deer hunt. While not the primary species on this hunt, every camp usually has at least one hunter come in contact with a black bear while deer hunting here. Big northeastern coyotes are also prevalent in the area and provide added hunting value. We'll help get you set up on good sign and you'll hunt on your own. We'll also help with field care and tagging if you are successful. We can provide you a stand or blind, or you can bring your own. This is hunt is a popular option for experienced deer hunters looking to save a few dollars. This hunt is a great way to get introduced to hunting Maine for the first time on a budget.

I have guided hunts for the last 20 years. The hunts take place on Philmont Scout Ranch, a very well know ranch located in the Sangre de Cristo mountains in north eastern New Mexico. We guide bear and mountain lion hunts with hounds. Travel is on a side by side or horseback for those who want the horseback experience. I have over half a million acres of private land that I hunt. I also hunt a few other ranches that are not Philmont but are ranches on private land located in New Mexico. All the hunts are a five day hunt. Bear hunts are $4,ooo . This price does not include meals and lodging. We have meals and lodging available for and additional $1,000 per hunt. A non refundable 40 % deposit is required upon booking. The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to arrival for the hunt. The hunt can be rescheduled the same year if an opening is available. If the hunt is booked the following year there is a 10% administrative fee.

Our abundant black bear population contains a very high percentage of color-phase bears. Most fall black bears will be above 2,000 feet of elevation, and they are very active during daylight hours. Black Bear and Mt. Goat can be booked as a combination high country hunt. Mountain boots are a requirement when hunting Black Bears in the fall. Hunters should arrive a day before a hunt starts, and depart a day after it ends.
