More about us

Our company was established in 2017 and operates in 1 territory.
Growing up on a small farm in Southern Manitoba and being blessed with having thousands of acres of prime hunting land to hunt on, I (Darryl) have always been an avid outdoorsman and hunter. Starting my bear hunting (guiding) career over 25 years ago in Northern Manitoba working for another outfitter, I have always been passionate about this sport. Then, getting into the waterfowl approximate 20 years ago I realized the great opportunity that came along with this business. It's all about meeting great people (now great friends) and creating all the memories for both the clients and myself that resulted in DOA. I live where I grew up and know the area like the back of my hand. Our lodge is "smack in the middle" of some of the best bear hunting North America has to offer and our Saskatchewan waterfowl is second to none.

About this hunt

Our bear hunting area (exclusive outfitter) covers most of the Southeast corner of Manitoba, Canada. Boreal forest, swamp, farmland, rivers and creeks make up this area. The area boasts a ton of huge black bear and is where the Sandilands Provincial Forest borders rich farm land producing ideal area for bears to grow BIG and have lots of cover. At DOA, we work extremely hard to ensure you a hunt of a lifetime. Every bait is baited over a month in advance to ensure activity. We don't "cheap out". We use the best bait possible to get the big bears. Every bait has a trail camera to monitor activity and a 2 man ladder stand. We have all the equipment to get you to and from the baits. ATVs, 4-Seater Razer, Argo with tracks and 4x4 vehicles. At DOA, we leave nothing to chance. We work hard to ensure you see bears...and lots of them!

Wounding

  • The wounding of a big game animal is unfortunate and usually avoidable. It is your responsibility as hunters to practice with your weapon of choice long before the hunt commences and make sound decisions on making an ethical shot. It is the Outfitters responsibility to make every effort in trying to retrieve wounded game.
  • In the event that a wounded animal is not recovered, regardless of what type of wound, it is considered a successful kill and the hunt is over.
  • You will be allowed to continue your bear hunt for an additional cost of $1000 USD. We do this to keep our hunters in focus and try to make the most humane, clean kill shot they can.
