Tom, head guide
Our company was established in 1985 and operates in 2 territories.
- We have 35 years experience in managing wildlife and providing sporting opportunities.
- As part of our sustainable management plans, we offer deer stalking, pigeon and corvid decoying, as well as other game shooting.
- Across our beautiful region we manage a variety of different farms, woods and estates and can offer bespoke outings with great views from high seats, on foot or in hides. We'd like to show you!
About this hunt
We provide days shooting wood pigeons over arable crops. The spring days are usually a straight run from 9 a.m in the hide through to 3 p.m to 5 p.m generally, depending on the weather. Summer days may be different. It is possible to incorporate other outings during your day/trip with us depending on seasons and daylight hours for example… If you want to book a day by yourself that’s ok, but we might prefer to put you on the same date as other people. This often helps maintain a steady airborne flow throughout the day. Our typical day: A pigeon shooting day will start with a RDV either at the accommodation or directly on the property, where a guide will explain safety protocols and any specific points about the chosen farm. We aim to get our clients into their hides and ready for around 9 a.m. this means the RDV may well be ahead of this. If you are experienced and like DIY days that’s absolutely fine and we understand the art of setting up your own decoys and the hide can be just as much fun as the shooting itself. In that case we will point out a preferable spot and leave you to it. If you are a novice however and need coaching, we have all the necessary equipment, poles, camouflage nets, decoys, flappers, magnets, shotguns and even cartridges. Usually we'll shoot through until 3 to 5 p.m.

Territory
Our region is the very image of the “English countryside” with its hedges, its woods and its rolling valleys, perfectly located between London and the Cotswold. We would like to share that with you when you book your sporting trip with us. The local fauna allow us to respectfully offer outings for wood pigeons, roe deer, muntjac and Chinese water deer, all the while working on conservation and protecting crops.

Recommendations:
As soon as you arrive, the beauty of our region and carefully selected accommodations become apparent! We have traditional local establishments we work with who care for our guests, from the cosy country pub, beautiful village BnB or a higher-end hotel. They usually offer the classic “English breakfast”. We can also arrange your picnic with them if you require. If you bring your own remember to pack enough food and water to hold you over all day.. Don’t hesitate to ask us for the best pubs and restaurants to eat in the evenings!
How to get there
Most of our grounds are located around the fringe of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, between the Chiltern hills and Oxford city, an excellent area to book outings with us. Easy access off the M40, only minutes from Oxford, the historic city well known for its animated town centre. Just under an hour from London, between the Chiltern hills and the Cotswolds brings you to the heart of our range, it’s worth the journey. For an authentic rural trip, we work with several traditional, independent places where you can stay as well as higher class hotels.

The hard work
All goot

Great Stalk, great local knowledge.
Excellent knowledge of hunting ground, very professional approach, great stalk and great guild. Met my expectations fully. I had asked for a good Cull Roe Buck but not a medal on this stalk and this is exactly what I was presented with. Tom re-arranged my stalk a day before due to coming down with Covid Thank you Tom and Dave
I had a great hunt with Tom, he's experienced, professional, and really easy to get along with, it was more like going hunting with an old friend then a guide; couldn't have asked for anything more.
50/50
Morning started well. Left too tramp around Thame with gun and ammo for two hrs before meeting up with guide to continue second half of the hunt which was poor!!
Did well first half, result. Then suddenly whisk off too a small wood where we saw two roe, but no muntjac very disappointing, which I might had in places resembled a building site.
Excellent Hunt
The outfitter was honest and up front and very through. Explain everything really well. I enjoyed this hunt very much. There was a lot of game to pick from.
There was nothing I didn't like.
Great Experience
Had a great experience overall. There were two of us, and we managed to hunt a Chinese Water Deer. It was a first experience for my cousin, and Dave, the guide, was very patient with him, and guided him very well. Would definitely visit again. Thank you Chiltern Sporting Services. It was a pleasure.
Fun, Educational and Rewarding.
Tom was an excellent guide, professional and fun to work with. He was very educational, explaining clearly why we made every choice we did. Couldn’t recommend him enough. I will certainly be booking again soon.
