Sweden, with the highest percentage of forested land in all of Europe, has a long and storied hunting tradition. The northern regions of this Scandinavian country are still sparsely populated, true wilderness. European moose live in just about every corner of the country; most estimates put the total population at some 300,000. In fact, the Swedes are the world’s most enthusiastic moose hunters, taking some 100,000 animals every year—twice as many moose as are shot in the USA and Canada, combined. The tremendous abundance of moose in Sweden has given rise to a moose-hunting tradition that is heavily focused on the most basic reason people hunt: for meat. The traditional “moose drive,” conducted with dogs that push moose to standing hunters, incorporates plenty of camaraderie and teamwork, with the aim of filling freezers and keeping the moose population in check. There are many other species to hunt in Sweden as well as moose, including roe deer, red deer, fallow deer, reindeer, and wild boars. Capercaillie and black grouse are also abundant and highly sought after by hunters in Sweden.

He thought of everything and ensured every detail was handled, making the trip smooth, enjoyable, and stress-free. One of the highlights of the trip was the incredible hunting dog "Luna". The dog was exceptionally well-trained and worked seamlessly alongside our host, showcasing remarkable skill, precision, and obedience. Watching them work together was a testament to their deep bond and the effort that had gone into training such an extraordinary partner in the field. His expertise in the outdoors was evident in everything he did, from tracking wildlife to sharing fascinating insights about the area. He genuinely goes above and beyond to ensure that everyone has a memorable and fulfilling experience. My hunt in Luleå with Jonas exceeded expectations on every level. The experience was grounded in genuine, local hunting values—courteous, authentic, and quietly professional. Every detail was handled with care: transport, accommodation, food, and equipment were all seamless and of a standard that went well beyond what was promised. The days were never rigid or transactional. Instead, they flowed naturally, delivered with a level of serviceability and personal investment that is rare to find. Jonas is humbly modest, but what he offers his guests is genuinely unique. His clear passion for hunting and for North Sweden is evident in everything he does, and it was a privilege to be introduced to the region through his eyes. This was not just a hunt, but a complete and thoughtfully delivered experience. I have no suggestions for improvement.
