The scenery was breathtaking and the camp experience exceeded expectations. We enjoyed the quietness of the wilderness, seeing wildlife, spending time in the mountains, and experiencing such a remote area. The guides worked hard and the overall experience felt authentic and well organized.

The accommodation was very well, the food was fantastic. We had bad weather nobody could expect to come, although the guides were incredible patient and passionate. Besides the weather we’re able to harvest 3 nice Bull Moose in 3 days. We had a thrilling week hunting in Newfoundland and nothing to regret.

I am a hands on hunter and this made this the perfect hunt for me. The guides were there to make certain I got a good bull and help me on all the items I would have had difficulty myself. They had access to the land, helped find and identify good animals, knew the countryside, caped out the animals much better then I could have done and then helped pack out! Our whole group tagged out on good mature animals, 100% success only because of these guys help! I still got to help cut and haul meat, pack out hides, antlers. Very nice hunting style camp without all the glamorous accommodations some might want. I prefer this more rustic style of a camp that still had some comforts to assist with hard days of hunting. (kerosene heater, mattress in a shelter out of the wind, etc.) Don't expect to eat like a king. Cereal in the mornings, you make your sandwiches for lunch and then they make some awesome, simple stews for supper out of the animals you harvest. Plan on walking for miles, packing meat and cold weather. Don't worry about getting too cold though because we kept moving a lot! I am from Wyoming and am used to some cold so I took four layers and most of the time I only had on two. The sleeping quarters got warmed up before bed and then cooled as the night progressed so I enjoyed my zero degree bag (Fahrenheit). And then of course the hostel in town where Erik is willing to let you stay before and after your hunt is a very comfortable stay.

The Terrain was absolutely beautiful, the guides were hard working and very knowledgeable and base camp was as close to a hotel as back country camping can be, all amenities were top notch!

Nick Bowker and his staff are very professional and very good at what they do. The lodge, the food and the experience are excellent. I have hunted with Nick Bowker two times, and will go back again.

Velik was prompt in getting me back and forth from the airport, driving me to rustically luxurious accommodation, and getting me out into the rugged yet serene Rhodope mountains, leading to a Gold Medal class Tusker trophy being bagged on my first day hunting, and my first day in Bulgaria. The introduction to mountainous Bulgarian cuisine was a feast for the senses, and Velik was very helpful in providing interpretation. Verdict: come one come all
