Awesome adventure New Zealand
I loved it all. Absolutely an adventure of a life time. Great people, Great food, Great seanery and Great hunting. Nothing like it.
The only thing I didn't like is it didn't last long enough. Hahhaha. Time goes by way to fast lol.

Customizable New Zealand Adventure
Carla, our outfitter, was incredible at making the adventure all that my wife and I wanted it to be. As I figured it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, I wanted to make the most of our time and resources. Somehow we accomplished everything that we had hoped without ever feeling rushed or pressured. Our PHs were knowledgeable, patient, and extremely accommodating. One of my favorite memories was kicking off our boots for a "tailgate" lunch in a picturesque valley complete with hot tea. The scenery was breathtaking, and the quantity and quality of the game was awe-inspiring. I have spent the better part of my life dreaming about hunting in New Zealand, and I will spend much more of it trying to get back.

An outstandingly awesome place to hunt!!
Everything!!... Excellent game... Great people... Wonderful food...I came as a client but I left as good friends!
There wasn't a thing that I didn't like
Struggled at first to get the animals we wanted. But, in the end we took to great stags. The thar
We became life long friends. Of all the hunts I have been on this is the one I think of often.
We liked everything
We had to go home
New Zealand free range hunt
everything was fantastic, quality of animals[all free range}.friendly guides, great food and lodging and Carla arranging every detail from start to finish
getting sick on the first helicopter ride
Good hunting experience
The fact that they did everything they could to make sure that my hunt met or exceeded my expectations. Even after I was successful with two animals and my hunt was officially over they entertained me way beyond any place I’ve ever been
Ours was a Donated Hunt we bought at the Safari Club Auction! Red Stag was the top Species on my Wife's Bucket List. so was also to be her 76th Birthday Present!

Well planned
Carla had the week layed out from the minute I stepped off the plane. I hunted with 3 different guides as each was uniquely qualified to help me target the game I was after. Awesome week ending with 4 great trophies.

OVER DELIVERED
Everything was like clockwork with the pickup, lodging, food, sleeping, etc. The hunt was typical for the first day and half. After several stalks we got up on a monster red stag with the help of the rain, I thought I got the perfect shot off when the big stud did 2 somersaults down the hill, I was celebrating, then the monster got up and vanished. We had a deflected arrow and a wounded giant red stag to find. I was questioning everything, the shot, shot placement, what went wrong, consequences, what now, etc. My guide stayed focused and calm and said "No Worries". He was correct, 25 hours later he found the Gold Stag bedded down while we were searching and glassing. We set up and waited 6.5 hrs for the shot, I made the perfect final shot. A lifetime memory with that trophy on the wall is a perfect hunt to me.
Absolutely nothing!
Excellent hunting experience
Duncan was superb, knowledgeable and hard worker, .carla delightful and does everything to make great experience.Luke pleasant. Hard worker
Had to access tahr by helicopter
Trip of a life time! Carla, the manager, makes sure you are happy with your hunt and that you have everything you need. Luke, my guide, was awesome! I feel I have a new friend outside of the hunt. I thought I was a good tracker until I saw Luke in action. Unbelievable! We enjoyed giving each other crap the whole hunt. I am booked for next year. Can’t wait to come back!t
The quality and quantity of game was exceptional. The lodging was great with a stunning view. But it was the people I worked with that made my hunt. They are top notch! In addition, the scenery In incredible!
I had a ruptured disc in my back that happened just before the hunt. Severe pain but I’m glad I was able to complete my hunt.
AMAZING HUNT! All thanks to the wonderful communication, world class guides, and the effort Carla and her Team put towards making our experience more then just the Hunt.
MUST READ if you want the best experience. My dad and I wanted to have a hunt together that I would consider to be a once in a lifetime opportunity. After a lot of researching and contacting many outfitters in New Zealand I kept getting the same results, very limited communication. That is until we messaged Carla . She was very responsive and made us feel very confident that if we had any questions or concerns we could get ahold of her. This is very helpful and puts your mind at ease when thinking about traveling halfway across the world and spending alot of money on an adventure. Also throughout the entire trip I felt like if I needed to, I could get ahold of her at anytime besides the times she just checked in to make sure everything was going good. I honestly can’t say enough about how hard she works to make sure you have the best possible adventure. Besides Carla, she has a wonderful Team of World Class guides. We were lucky enough to hunt with Duncan and Ewie. The first 2 days of our 7 day hunt was spent with Duncan. Full disclosure, if Duncan is wearing shorts this doesn’t mean the weather is going to be 85 degrees and sunny. (Pack the extra jacket just incase) Nothing like having 4 layers of clothes on and looking over at your guide that is wearing shorts. Makes you feels really tough lol. Duncan was able to use his expertise in less then ideal weather conditions to get my dad and I in range of a wonderful chamois and was able to harvest my first New Zealand animal. Duncan was very knowledgeable and taught us alot. By the end of the 2 days we had a great friendship that really makes the hunt more then just the harvest of the animal which is exactly what I was looking for and made for some great memories. So for the last 5 days my dad and I had the pleasure of hunting with Ewie. I can’t say enough about Ewie’s knowledge and all around professionalism as a guide. Absolutely world class. During these 5 days we made a great friendship and it felt more like a group of hunting buddies hanging out then a guide service. For example, even though one of us owns a sweet hunting dog, which may or may not be a PUG we all agreed as friends that Pugs are a very manly dog breed. Ewie was also able to teach my dad and I a lot about spot and stalk hunting, the game animals we were in pursuit of, and just all around knowledge of the outdoors. These were the kinds of things you will only learn from a person that makes the outdoors his life. We were able to harvest all our animals with the help of our guide but without the extra effort put forth by Ewie we would not have found my Tahr and for that I am truly greatful! Also as a special request my Dad and I like to eat the animals we harvest which Ewie was very accommodating and cooked us up wild game with almost every meal. He made sure whether in the field or back at the house we always had something to eat and went the extra mile to make gourmet meals. Loved trying every meal and looked forward to dinner almost as much as the hunt. Without a guide like Ewie and his personality and humor our hunt and the experience would not have been as fulfilling and as memorable as it was. I love our choice of Outfitter and also getting to know the guides I had the pleasure of meeting. This is something to remember when picking an Outfitter, it is not always about the animals you harvest (even though we harvested every animal we wanted) but the memories you have with the people you meet. The memories i made with my dad will last my entire life time and I owe it all to Carla and her Team. THANK YOU!
Honestly the whole experience had no downside. Every part from the initial communication, updates before the trip, every aspect of the hunt, and even the accommodations at the end of the trip to go home were above any expectations my Dad or I had.

Amazing professional hunters, beautiful country
Luke was my primary guide while Duncan was my guide for the chamois hunt. Both having grown up in the New Zealand mountains, they could both hike/climb like our target animals, but they were patient with my lesser abilities. Their ability to spot animals was impressive. My trip was in mid-April 2023, and the red stag roar and fallow “grunt” was full-on, but the tahr and chamois rut was to start about a month later. For my hunt, we went to three different areas at least 50 miles apart, and I stayed in three different accommodations. Carla the manager did a good job with juggling logistics with the different hunting groups.
Not a negative but a recommendation. Ask lots of questions, and ask to talk to one of the guides. My experience was that stag and fallow hunting can be done in a way that is not too taxing. But the big open country and mountains of the tahr and chamois country is quite a physical effort. I loved it!
Excellent hunting experience
Torn
I had to think long and hard on this review. Seems like your mind goes to the negative when writing a review, and I wanted it be as fair as possible. The country is beautiful! Seen lots of game. Our guide Luke was honest, and very nice.
Unorganized, after coming off of almost 40 hours of travel, I really didn't want to have to wait for them to go grocery shopping. Was asked a week b4 we flew out if we can bring sleeping bags for the tahr hunt. Too much expectation on the guide. He is expected to cook all your meals, guide, skin, and help pack out your animals. It's a long day, and imo it's way too much on them, therefore something is going to lack. Be prepared to cook, or help cook your meals. It doesn't bother us to help, but when paying that kind of money for a daily rate, I was not expecting that. I was also unimpressed with her changing the daily rate when we already had a hunt contract. I understand covid effected everyone, but a contract is a contract. Especially with the lack of food. (Peant butter toast) Lastly- Carla asked us to bring our own ammo. My wife and I each brought 3 boxes. She advised us to just check them and declare. All of our ammo was siezed at the airport. You need an import license as well as a Firearms license. In all fairness, Carla was unaware. However, I lost almost $600 in ammo, and nothing was offered by the outfitter. She made a comment about working it out, but unfortunately never happened.

Carla and Ewan did everything possible to make our week a success. Accommodations, meals and hunt were excellent.
Excellent Adventrue
Communication Expectations Adventure
Nothing
Excellent hunting experience
Wow. I came to see New Zealand, and for a gold medal stag. I’ll be back for the people. During my hunt, I wondered whether I was getting some additional special treatment because of the Covid delay. But no, from reading others’ testimonials, it sounds like most everyone gets to enjoy a similar first-class experience. Carla is an absolute joy to associate with, and I was in awe of Ewie’s skills, from his spotting, to caping, field-dressing, and packing (not to mention he’s also an exceptionally nice person). It was so fun to be a part of their world for a few days, and I couldn’t be happier with my stag, fallow, and tahr. This trip exceeded my expectations in every way, and I still can’t wipe this smile off my face.
Excellent hunting experience

Great Adventure
My PH Tim, was a true professional. He was in great condition and was able to get me close enough to the animals for me to make clean shots. The terrain is very rugged and the tahr are way up the mountain, so it is not an easy hunt. After taking my two tahr we moved to another wonderful location where I was kept busy hunting ducks and other small game. It was a wonderful experience.
Great New Zealand Hunt.
My guide Luke was hard working, friendly, helpful and knew where to find the animals. I got a nice bull tahr and a nanny. Carla, the manager was quick to answer emails and helpful with the necessary paperwork and arrangements. The mountains where beautiful, and the hunting a rewarding physical challenge.
I would recommend you rent a gun from the guide instead of bringing your own rifle. Obtaining a gun permit in NZ is time consuming and complicated. It took almost six months despite Carla's help. Emails I set directly to the police where mostly ignored. I got my permit only 8 days before my flight was scheduled to leave Norway.
Unforgettable experience
Everything from the accommodations to the hunt itself was second to none. The food was great too. Everything was perfect
Nothing!
I would with out a doubt, recommend this outfitter. Carla was great in getting us to our destination. The guides Duncan and Ewan were absolutely great. Accommodations were awesome as well as Ewan's Cooking.
We loved the views we had as we hiked for the Chamois, Tar, and the Stags.
The only thing i can think of was the up hill hikes at age 61...LOL
A trip of a lifetime!
What can I say? We had an unforgettable trip made possible by great mangagement from Carla and world class guiding by Tim. The scenery, the wildlife, the hunting, everything was top of the line! Carla were responsive from day one, and nothing is impossible for this lady. Very flexible, kind and foremost keen on setting up a trip of a lifetime for you! Tim. Where do I start? I been hunting 14 different countries and been through alot of guides, both good ones and not so good ones. But Tim has stod out, I can honestly say that he shares the top position together with Mark Comins from Chumlet Safaris (South Africa). Absolutely nothing is impossible for this guy, he walk all the extra miles to make sure youre having a blast. He is what I would call a true hunter, with ethics, knowledge and passion for the game. We will definetly come back as soon as possible to New Zealand and hunt with New Zealand Trophy Hunting again, and I would recommend anyone to also do so! Greetings from Sweden, Calle and Kjell
Had to go home.
Excellent hunting experience
Excellent Tahr, Stag and Wallaby Hunt
The communication from time I booked the hunt, during the Covid delay and later finalizing the trip; initially with Carla and then Joy, was very good. I felt quite welcomed when I got to the lodge. The hunting area was fantastic and quite expansive and saw many animals throughout our travels. Almost immediately saw some stags and it was the excellent guiding and spotting by Tim Campbell that enabled us be able to harvest the trophy stag and then wallabies. In another area (park), I was able to get an incredible trophy bull tahr. Also, with the use of Tim's hunting dogs, experienced a thrilling pig hunt. Overall, a fantastic experience and wonderful hunting memories created. I would highly recommend the outfit, hunting with Tim and the communication provided by Carla and Joy.
Great experience
Unforgettable hunt of a lifetime
Booking was an absolute breeze thanks to Joy & Tim was super accommodating for my hunt. Anything and everything I wanted to tackle in my 4 day hunt was taken care of and more! I’ve never had so much fun in my life. As a Canadian using thermal gear and spotlights was really cool and I couldn’t get enough we hunted day and night, Tim had top of the line equipment ensuring no target was walking away. My hunt was jammed pack with action with a ram, goats/wallabys/deer/hares/possums/boars. I can’t wait to come back for years to come.
My face hurts from smiling from smiling the whole time during the hunt/stay with New Zealand Trophy Hunting.
Trip of a lifetime
My guide was exceptionally accommodating to my desire to accomplish Tahr and Stag with a Bow.
Free range Tahr
The free range Tahr hunt in the southern Alps was the full experience I was looking for. Accommodations were excellent from the alpine cabin in the mountains to the lodge for the fallow deer hunt. Tim, my guide was knowledgeable, and took care of everything. Food was great, scenery was great! Lots of animals in the valley we hunted.
No complaints
Can‘’t wait to go back
Peaceful location in southern New Zealand. Tim Campbell was an energetic and organized outfitter, made the most of every minute. Excellent gear (we hired their guns). Collected all the animals in the field, and returned to a cold room for butchering. We learnt a lot about dressing and preparing the carcass. All the meat was processed and packed ready to take home. Tim looked after us very well, he was great cook and tour guide. A beautiful location for non hunters in the group - walks and a very cosy lodge.

Bucket list hunt!
Assume hunt, From the first contact with Joy to getting dropped off by Tim. They were both amazing people. Hunting out of the tin shack at the foothills and chasing tahr was on my bucket list for years. The service they provided were second to none! We saw lots of animals and both my hunting partner and I were successful in our hunt. Thanks Joy and Tim – We will be back!
Really there was nothing that sticks out that was not fun or enjoyable! Airlines lost my hunting gear on the way out there but Joy took the time with the airline and we had it on the next flight which only delayed us 2 hours and no hunting time.
Excellent hunting experience
Tim was awesome! We enjoyed everything. Food, hunt, hospitality. Will be coming back .
Hunt of a lifetime
I have always wanted to hunt New Zealand but never really knew where to start. I had talked to a few places at some local hunting shows but nothing I felt comfortable with booking. Upon searching online I came across New Zealand Trophy Hunting and after a couple messages and phone calls knew it was the one. Joy was very informative and up on getting everything organized. Tim was an awesome guide and very knowledgeable of the animals and hunting area. Tim was able to put me on some very nice animals. Joy and Tim are an awesome team and New Zealand Trophy Hunting is in great hands. Im not sure who enjoyed the hunt more Tim or myself which speaks volumes for a guide to me. I cant wait to return for fallow and tahr.
The trip had to end
